WHAT
Compose academic essay of 1,000 to 1,250 words in which you raise and answer a level-three question about the functions and effects of a typical artifact or practice in society–and show multidimensional critical thinking. Help us become a critically informed, multidimensional thinker about a) how the artifact or practice is impacting us in ways that we (and society) might not recognize and b) consequences of our lack of consideration about the impact. Ensure that your paper is not merely an informative report; an argument and analysis is essential. Cite at least 3 credible sources.
WHY
This project aims to help you become aware of how an object or practice in everyday life can affect how we think, act, feel, and believe by considering: What is __ doing to us and society? What are their consequences? Being an intelligent and informed citizen requires the ability to think critically about objects that seem ordinary or typical, particularly ones we take for granted because of their prevalence in society. Ultimately, by writing this essay, you will practice the ability to re-consider the function and effect of an object, so you can become a more critical user of things in your life. Otherwise, to what extent are you a critical thinker? Are you being used by an object? Are you really thinking for yourself?
